Adult and youth Sunday school is available at New Sweden

A new hymnal, Evangelical Lutheran Worship, has been approved fro use and is commended as the primary worship resource in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The human has familiar and new liturgies and over 700 hymns, a combination of hymns found in the Lutheran Book of Worship, With One Voice, and Renewing Worship hymnals as well as hymns not published in these works. The Church Council has approve the purchase of these hymnals for the New Sweden congregation. The cost of the hymnals is $20. To help defray this expense, the Council suggests that members and friends donate toward the new hymnal purchase by giving in memory or in honor of loved ones, or just making a donation earmarked for hymnal purchase. A card will be placed inside the front cover of each donated hymnal, naming the giver as well as the purpose. Please contact a member of the Worship and Music committee to notify them of your intent to make a hymnal donation.

Located approximately 5 miles northeast of Manor off of Farm to Market Road 973, New Sweden Evangelical Lutheran Church is a well-known Central Texas landmark surrounded by farmland. The 104 foot copper spire can be seen for miles across the countryside.

The New Sweden congregation has deep roots. It was organized on February 23, 1876 by Swedish immigrants and the Rev. J.O. Cavallin. The congregation continues to celebrate its rich heritage as it transitions into the 21st century.

Sunday School has enjoyed continued growth, and, to accommodate children and their parents, both Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon classes are offered.

Youth Sunday School - 9:30am
Children's Sunday School on First and Third Sunday Evenings - 4pm to 5pm

Special Sunday School activities include an Easter egg hunt, a Maypole dance, Vacation Bible School, a hay ride and games at the Fun Fest, and the Christmas Program.
